Field courses on structural geology, salt tectonics, injectites, petroleum and geothermal systems.
We run field-based training courses at instructive natural exposures across Romania and beyond — from salt tectonics and petroleum systems to injectites and geothermal systems. Each course combines spectacular outcrops with hands-on interpretation and can be tailored to a company's technical focus and experience level. Current courses are listed below.
Sand injectites in a hydrocarbon-rich fold and thrust belt — world-class outcrop analogues in the Eastern Carpathians Bend Zone.
View course → 3–5 daysWorld-class analogue outcrops of a full petroleum system — reservoir, source, seal and trap — in the Eastern Carpathian Bend Zone, one of the world's oldest oil provinces.
View course → 3 daysSalt tectonics of the Eastern Carpathian Bend Zone — from the folded galleries of the Slănic Prahova salt mine to the Mânzălești diapir, the largest rock-salt outcrop in Europe.
View course → 5–7 daysA comprehensive traverse of the salt of the Romanian Carpathians — four salt mines and the Mânzălești diapir, across the Diapir Fold Zone and the Bend Zone.
View course → 3 daysThe salt of the Transylvanian Basin, read at first hand in the Turda salt mine and at the Sovata and Praid outcrops — internal deformation, heterogeneity and implications for energy storage.
View course → 3 daysThe structural and stratigraphic controls on geothermal systems and how they're explored.
